Nose Surgeries

Septoplasty

  • The Nasal Septum is the thin wall which seperates the two nasal cavities.
  • In some people, as the grow-up the nasal septum deviates to either or both sides. This deviation can be a developmental defect or can happen due to trauma
  • This Septal deviation can cause a blocked nose, anosmia, repeated cold, mouth breathing, snoring and headaches.
  • Septoplasty is an Endoscopic procedure which corrects this deviation without any external scarring.

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)

  • A lot of people are known to complain of sinus trouble. This sinus trouble could be due to a range of diseases like Chronic Sinusitis, Allergic Fungal Sinusitis, Sinonasal Polyps, Tumors etc and can present as headache or heaviness, nasal blockage, recurrent or long-standing nasal discharge, nasal bleed, altered smell or loss of smell.
  • FESS is a procedure done endoscopically to clear the involved disease and restore drainage of the paranasal sinuses thus re-establishing the nasal functions of breathing, air-filtration and smell.

Endoscopic Orbital Decompression

  • Proptosis is an abnormal protrusion of eyeball which is commonly seen in Graves’ disease, orbital abscess and orbital haemorrhage.
  • Orbital decompression is the surgery which an ENT surgeon performs endoscopically by removing a part of the wall(s) of the orbit followed by either removing fat or draining pus or blood collected behind the eye ball.

Endonasal Dacryocystorhinostomy

  • The tears from the eyes drain from the corner of the eye into the nose through a lacrimal system.
  • Any blockage in this drainage system can lead to excessive watering and infections of the lacrimal sac (Part of the tears drainage system).
  • Endonasal DCR is an endoscopic surgery which bypasses the blockage and re-establishes drainage of the tears without any external incisions or scars.
